Configuring RBS 6201 GSM with RUS

In this post I will describes you the procedure to perform Site Cell Configurations using RBS6201 GSM with RUS, Ericsson RBS6201 with RUS for 2G technology. The actions are performed locally at RBS site. 
This post is general guidelines you will learn RBS6201 GSM with RUS.

1-RUS overview

First of all we need to know about RUS types in ericsson RBS6201, The following variants are available in
GSM 900:
RUS 01 B0
RUS 01 B8
The RUS is certified for 60 W.
The default set output power without license keys is 20 W, So l
icense key to be used to set the output power to 40 W or 60 W.
The RUS support the below mentionfunctions:
• Transmitting and Receiving Processing (TRP)
• differentiate Uplink and downlink
• Amplify the power
• Up to four carriers downlink and uplink with 2-RX diversity. 
  The maximum power consumption calculated with antenna load.

2-DUG overview

Here are the DUG types:
DUG 10 01
DUG 20 01
Both DUG 10 01 and DUG 20 01 have their own radio interface. Therefore the DUG 10 01 architecture is like RBS 2000, with the baseband circuitry on the Radio Unit (RU) (the RUG 11). There is separate unit for TMA (RBS 2000), DUG 10 01 also support this functionality and it is used for antenna supervision, just only electrical connection between the DU and RU is supported.
DUG 2001 uses the architecture same as the other radio standards in RBS6201 series (UMTS and 4G), likewise baseband circuitry on the digital unit connected over the standardized CPRI cable supporting (2.5 Gbps) interface to a Radio Unit Multi-standard (RUS). TMA function support in this case and CPRI both electrical and optical interface supporting for connectivity from DU to RUS.


                  We need OMT kit, it includes OMT software, user manual for engineer, most importantly OMT cable.
     a- Before performing the tasks, make below items are ready/completed:
     b- Installation already completed.
     c- Verifying Installation is completed and check-list is available.
     d- Testing Antenna System is completed and test record is available.
     e- Transmission toward BSC is ready.

4-Setting IDB parameter for RBSs with RUS (4+4+4):

               In this section you will learn how to setup IDB parameters with OMT in RBS 6201 with RUS and
               DUG both 20 01/ 10 01.
a- Open CreateIDB Window Start the OMT software then Select Configuration then go to Create IDB, it will open create IDB window in OMT.
b- Defining Cabinet Setup Click on new to open cabinet window,also you can add cabinet in IDB here,
     select cabinet type which you are using like RBS 6201 -48V. In the Power System box, also select the power system.
     In the Climate System box, select climate system (if applicable).
     Standard for 3 fans, Extended for 4 fans.
     Click OK.
c-  Defining Antenna Sector Setup
     In sector widow add new antenna sectors according to your configurations.
     Go to Number of Sectors box, select the number of sectors, 
     Frequency box, select the frequency used.
     RX diversity type in diversity box.
     Select RX antenna sharing if it is in sue.
     Set number of RUS according to your requirement in RUS box.

     TMA configuration one of the below.
     If TMA in sue select yes, No if TMAs have not been installed
d- TRXMapping Setup
                  In the Number of TRXs box, select the number of TRXs in RUSs. 
                 Click OK in the Radio Equipment setup windows to confirm.
                 Click OK in the Define Antenna System window to confirm.
e- Defining Transmission Setup
                 In the STN Equipment box, select No STN, SIU, or Other.
                 Select the RBS transmission interface.
                 Click OK in the Create IDB window.

Finally your IDB is ready install IDB to DUG buy follow steps

1-Connect OMT cable with DUG installed in RBS6201 LMT A port
2-Open OMT
3-Click on connect in OMT to connect OMT software with DUG
4-Change maintenance mode of DUG by clicking right click on GSM node icon on OMT and set
    maintenance mode to full maintenance and click ok
5-Now go to configuration and click install IDB click ok and yes on all top up windows
6-When installation completed change maintenance mode again to no maintenance certainly site will go on-air.
