 Software upgrade

Here we will learn how to upgrade software at minilink PT, we will learn necessary steps to minilink PT software upgrade.

upgrade or downgrade MINI-LINK PT:

1. Log on to MINI-LINK PT Node GUI
2. In the menu on the left, click Setup.
3. Below Setup, click Software Upgrade. The Software Upgrade page opens. Under Current State,
the current Running-Network Release and the current Rollback-Network Release are displayed.
4. Under Upgrade, to the right of the File path field, click Browse. The File Upload dialog opens.
5. Locate the Release file ( Example : CXP9023034_3_R2E02.package )
6. Click Open.
7. Click Upgrade.

Software upgrade using cli & ssh server:

Required Software :

› SSH Client : Putty
› SSH Server : FreeSSHd or Bitvise SSH Server ( Run only one SSH Server )
› ML-PT SBL release package i.e. (CXP9023034_3_R2E02.package)
› Note: turn OFF the firewall & antivirus

FreeSSHd Server configuration:

(you can follow the instructions below or you can set any SFTP server and it should be running)

1. Download & install F

reeSSHd from here

2. Open FreeSSHd
3. Go to users > Add
a) Login : admin
b) Authentication : Password stored
c) password: admin

d) User can use : tick all as shown

1. Create folder in C driver and put the release package i.e. (CXP9023034_3_R2E02.package)
inside folder : C:\PT
1. Go to SFTP :

2. Choose the folder C:\PT

› Go to SSH and configure it as shown below :
1. Click apply
2. Under SSH server : click here to start it
3. Now the SSH server in running

Bitvise server settings:

1. Click Open Easy Settings
Configure the server as following :
  • account name : admin
  • account password state : admin
  • Virtual File system layout : Limit to root Directory
  • Root Directory : C:\PT
  • Go back to the main screen and click Advanced Settings
  • 7. Under IPv4 click add then set :
  • Listening Interface : 192.168.1.2
  • Listening port : 22
  • 8. From the main screen and click Start Serve

Test SSH server:

1. Open Putty
2. set the IP of SSH server : 192.168.1.2
3. Port : 22
4. Connection type : SSH
5. You should be able to login to server as shown below                               user : admin
                                                                                                                         Password : admin

LOGIN TO ML-PT:

› Open putty to login to ML-PT
› IP Adress : cli@192.168.1.1
› Port: 22
› Connection Type : SSH
1. activate stand-alone mode :
› PT# config mode activate-stand-alone-mode
2. check the current running Network Release (NR)
› PT# show config common software
3. In root mode change to the (config-common-software) submode:
› PT# config common software
4. Initiate the download of the SW file to the NE from the SSH Server :
PT(config-common-software)# init-nr-download filename CXP9023034_3_R2E02.package mode
sftp ip 192.168.1.2 port 22 user admin password admin
5. Check if the NE found the SW files
PT# show information
Note: The total download size or the number of files should NOT equal to zero if its equal zero then              you should check the firewall & antivirus turned OFF
6. Download the SW immediately :
› PT(config-common-software)# download-nr
7. To view the state and progress of the download:
› PT(config-common-software)# show
Note: Always check the state every 1 minute .
Tips: 
› PT(config-common-software)# show
› Now the state changed to flashing (means that ML-PT is storing the SW in the flash memory).
› Remember to check the state periodically by command PT(config-common-software)# show
› When the state changed to AWAITING_ACTIVATION , activate the software :
› PT(config-common-software)# reschedule activation-time-scheduled 0
› The ML-PT will restart many times and you will lose the connection .
› Re-login to PT
– PT# config common software
– PT(config-common-software)# show
› Check if the state changed to AWAITING_NR_COMMIT , commit the software :
› PT(config-common-software)# nr-commit commit
› Finally, check the state change to IDLE & check the running-NR is upgraded to the desired SW
